T-60

T-60

Light Tank · USSR

A tiny scout with a fast-firing 20 mm cannon: long bursts shred halftracks, open tops and thin rear plate, but it cannot hurt a medium from the front. Spot, harass and stay moving.

History

The T-60 was a small Soviet light tank rushed into production in 1941 to replace the losses of the first months of the war. It used truck components, had a crew of two and was armed with a 20 mm TNSh autocannon. About 6,000 were built in 1941-42.

The T-60 was too weak to fight German tanks, but it was cheap and available when nothing else was, and it was used for reconnaissance and infantry support. T-60s fought at Stalingrad in the autumn of 1942. The game models a 1942 production T-60 without a radio.

In Armor Heads

Design note: T-60 (1942): 20 mm TNSh, belt-fed, a weaker AP round than the KwK 38. The cheapest vehicle in the game.

Compared with the other 34 WW2 vehicles, it is bottom 5 for hit points (#34 of 35); bottom 5 for effective hp (#34 of 35); bottom 5 for shot damage (#34 of 35); top 5 for damage per minute (#1 of 35); top 5 for reload (#4 of 35); bottom 5 for accuracy (#34 of 35); bottom 5 for ap penetration (#34 of 35).

Survivability

  • Hit points: 500. Damage taken multiplier: 1.2 (effective HP 417).
  • Track repair: 4 s.

Main gun

  • Mount: turret, 360° traverse at 20°/s.
  • Elevation +25° / depression -7°, at 30°/s.
  • Autocannon: 15-round clip, 0.1 s between rounds, 3.5 s to reload the clip.
  • Damage per minute (AP): 8,687.
  • Accuracy: 0.1° dispersion when settled, aim time 1.36 s, move bloom 0.065.
  • Gunner's sight: TOP, 2.5x (binoculars 6x / 10x / 15x).

The penetration threshold is the thinnest zone multiplier the shell gets through: zones below it stop the shell (10 % damage for AP, 20 % for HE). See how the numbers work.

Matchups (AP against the hull front, square-on, under 100 m)

  • Its AP gets through the hull front of 6 of the other 34 vehicles. It is stopped by: Tiger I, M4 Sherman, Panther, Panzer III Ausf. L, T-34/76, T-34-85, Panzer IV Ausf. H, Cromwell, Sherman Firefly, M26 Pershing, Tiger II, IS-2, Churchill VII, KV-1, M10 Wolverine, StuG III Ausf. G, SU-100, Jagdpanther, ISU-152, M32 TRV, T-70M, Marder III, SU-76M, M36 Jackson, Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer, M3 Lee, Stuart V "Honey", 17pdr SP Achilles.
  • 33 of the other 34 vehicles' AP get through its hull front. Safe from the front against: M32 TRV.
  • Sides, rears and roofs are thinner on every vehicle; see each page's zone table.

Secondary weapons and equipment

  • No working roof machine gun.
  • Smoke: 2 salvos, each recharges in 25 s.

Mobility

  • Running gear: tracks (pivot turns).
  • Top speed 42 km/h on roads, 22.7 km/h off-road (54 %), reverse 8.4 km/h, acceleration 3.6 m/s².
  • Turn rate 46°/s (27°/s at top speed). Mass 6,400 kg. Engine start 1.8 s.

Special ability (B)

Recon Plane: a recon plane flies a line you draw on the map (up to 800 m) and spots every enemy within 75 m of it for 10 s. Ready 60 s after the round goes live, once per round; another use costs 250 credits.

Where it appears

Players can take it on all seven WW2 maps, on either team. The AI fields it on:

  • Stalingrad 1942, Blue (Allied side): 2x in an 8-vehicle line-up (first at position 2).
